About Joe
Hi, I’m Joe – a Level 2 Badminton Coach and someone who’s loved badminton since I first picked up a racket at 9 years old. I’ve represented Wiltshire at junior and senior level, played for Sheffield Hallam University in the BUCS Premier Division, and competed internationally in Iceland, Spain (and Wales!). Based in Chippenham and surrounding areas, I coach players of all ages and abilities, from complete beginners to those pushing for the next level.
I’ve been coaching for over ten years. Along the way, I’ve worked full-time at Bristol Sport Foundation running primary school badminton programmes, supported the GB Para Badminton Squad in the build-up to the Tokyo Olympics, and coached university teams at UWE Bristol.
I am currently Head Coach for Wiltshire Junior County Badminton, leading and delivering the Junior coaching programme. I also run badminton coaching sessions in Chippenham, Wiltshire and the surrounding areas for juniors and adults, 1-to1 or group sessions.
Most recently, I’ve been working as a Senior Systems Operator for Hawkeye Innovations on the Badminton World Federation World Tour. Being courtside at major international events around the world has given me a brilliant insight into how the game is played at the very highest level.
I also hold a First Class degree in Sport & Exercise Science, I’m a Level 3 Personal Trainer, and I’ve completed a strength and conditioning training course specifically for junior athletes.
