I’ve just arrived in New Delhi, India for the BWF World Championships 2026, and the excitement is already building. The courts at the Indira Gandhi Arena are ready for a week of world‑class badminton.

The championships return to India for the first time since 2009, with the world’s best players arriving in New Delhi to compete for five world titles.

Among the No. 1 seeds are China’s Shi Yu Qi in men’s singles, Korea’s An Se-young in women’s singles, Korea’s Seo Seung-jae and Kim Won-ho in men’s doubles, China’s Liu Shengshu and Tan Ning in women’s doubles, and China’s Feng Yanzhe and Huang Dongping in mixed doubles.

Competition gets underway on Monday 17 August, with the opening rounds taking place over 17 and 18 August. The tournament will build through the knockout stages before the five finals on Sunday 23 August.

With the courts ready and the players arriving, Delhi is about to become the centre of the badminton world.

Really looking forward to these games beginning!
